Messenger Marketing & Chatbots
Picture this. You click an ad you see on Facebook or Instagram promoting a house for sale, or a pair of shoes you like, or maybe it’s a picture of a travel destination you have been looking to book. You click the ad and the next thing you know you are in a messenger chat answering questions and being directed to make an informed and trusted decision to purchase that very thing that caught your interest. This is, often times, a messenger chatbot in action.
What are Facebook Messenger bots or chatbots?
Basically, a chatbot is a piece of automated messaging software that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to work through a conversation flow with people.
Bots are programmed to understand questions, provide answers, and execute tasks. From a customer’s perspective, they’re a friendly and accessible time-saver. Rather than opening an app, making a phone call, doing a google search, or visiting a webpage, your customer can just type a message, like they would to a friend.
The interesting thing is that messenger marketing works because it feels more human. Even though often times people are told it’s a bot they are communicating with, it still feels more personable. It’s creates direct one-to-one communication rather than posting a public comment on a social media post or ad.
